      Responding to The Call

      Speaker: Kevin L

Topic: Bondage of Life, Cost of Christ, Freedom in Jesus, Hearing God

      Service Type: Sunday Sermons

In Mark 10:46-52, Blind Bartimaeus, a beggar, hears that Jesus is passing by and cries out for mercy. Despite being told to be quiet, he shouts even louder, and Jesus calls for him. Bartimaeus throws aside his cloak, approaches Jesus, and Jesus asks him what he wants. Bartimaeus says, “Rabbi, I want to see,” and Jesus heals him, saying, “Go, your faith has healed you.”

This story can be interpreted not just as a physical healing but also as a symbolic representation of spiritual awakening. Bartimaeus, in his persistence and faith, represents the person who seeks spiritual sight

The story also contrasts spiritual blindness with the ability to recognize Jesus as the source of healing and truth. While many people around Bartimaeus may have been physically able to see, they were spiritually blind to the significance of Jesus’ presence.

How are you and I responding to Jesus’ call on our lives?
